Ship a design editor
without building one.
The BuildOnce embeddable studio is the same canvas editor the dashboard uses, mounted on your site with one iframe. Your users create and edit designs and download images, PDFs and videos in your branding, and your server hears about every change through signed webhooks.
Who uses Embeddable studio
SaaS products
Give customers a design editor for their listings, posts or documents without building a canvas engine.
Agencies and portals
Let clients adjust their own templates on your site while you keep control of the library.
Review flows
Render a post on your server, let a user fix one slide in the editor, and get the new render back.
Three steps
- 01
Create the embed
In Embed, choose the allowed domains, downloads, asset picker and your title, icon and accent colour.
- 02
Add one iframe
Paste the embed code into your page. It starts its own short-lived session, with no API key in the browser.
- 03
Listen for changes
template.created, template.updated, render.completed and render.edited arrive as signed webhooks.
One iframe on your page
Add a templateId to open one template straight in the editor. Allowed domains decide which sites may load it.
<!-- Your page: the full BuildOnce editor, on your domain --> <iframe src="https://buildonce.app/e/emb_…?templateId=tpl_…" style="width:100%;height:760px;border:0" ></iframe>
What Embeddable studio does
The full editor
The same canvas editor as the dashboard studio — text, images, shapes, animation and pages — with your branding on top.
Downloads
PNG, JPEG and PDF are drawn in the browser for free; MP4, WebM and GIF render on our servers at 1 credit per second.
Edit a rendered design
Render mode opens one render — a post or a whole carousel — for your user to change. Saving makes a new render; the template is never touched.
Control what users can do
Turn downloads, the asset picker and smart resize on or off, and fix the slides or locked layers in render mode.
What to know before you build
- Available from the Launch plan.
- Everyone using an embed works in one shared library of the workspace’s templates.
- Video downloads use the workspace’s credits; embed users see the cost but never your balance.
- An empty allowed-domains list lets any site load the embed — set it before going live.

Embeddable studio questions
Short answers to what people ask most. The documentation covers every endpoint, tool and limit.
Create an embed in the dashboard, set the allowed domains, and put the embed code — an iframe pointing at https://buildonce.app/e/<embed id> — on your page.
No. The embed starts its own short-lived session when it loads, so your users never sign in to BuildOnce and no API key reaches the browser.
Yes. Each embed has its own title, icon and accent colour, shown inside the editor.
Through the workspace’s webhooks: template.created, template.updated, render.completed and render.edited, each signed and retried until your server accepts it.
Yes. Render mode opens one render for editing; your server creates the edit session with its API key, and saving produces a new render without touching the template.
